Louisville football: Recruiting notebook

Here's a notebook of items from the University of Louisville football programs recruiting efforts, including several a bunch of new offers from the staff.

Lawrenceville, Ga., Central Gwinnett 2017 offensive tackle Tony Gray has been one of the hottest recruits in the South, landing offers in bunches.

On Thursday, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound sophomore picked up one from Louisville.

Gray adds that to a list that already included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Ohio State and Mississippi.

Arlington Heights, Ill., St. Viator tight end Cole Kmet landed his first offer last month from Louisville. He's recently added offers from Kentucky and Baylor.

Miami Christopher Columbus wide receiver Jerron Rollins added an offer from U of L to his growing list of schools.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Rollins also has offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic among others.

Rollins had 38 catches for 620 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior.

Louisville is the first offer for Ellenwood, Ga., Cedar Grove offensive tackle Justin Shaffer, who is a member of the Class of 2017.

****St. Petersburg, Fla., Canterbury School wide receiver Zion Roland picked up his second offer, adding one from U of L along with one from Indiana. The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Roland is a member of the Class of 2018.

****U of L became the first offer for Newnan, Ga., High School athlete Chancellor Johnson. The 6-foot-6, 218-pound Johnson plays quarterback but can play a number of positions on the field. He's also being recruited by Georgia and Florida.

****Laurel, Miss., High School wide receiver TyQuan Ulmer has landed an offer from the Cardinals. He's a 6-foot-1, 180-pound member of the Class of 2017.
