U of L football: Recruiting notebook

Here are a few University of Louisville football recruiting nuggets from this weekend, including a few new offers an a decision coming.

Columbia, Tenn., Spring Hill High School quarterback Tylin Oden is still expected to make a college decision on Memorial Day.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound quarterback confirmed to Cardinal Authority that Louisville, Mississippi State and West Virginia are he three finalists.

U of L appears to be the favorite for Oden.

As a junior, he totaled 1,947 yards of offense with 28 touchdowns. He threw for more than 1,000 yards and rushed for just under 1,000 yards and led Spring Hill to the playoffs for the first time since 2009. He also had just three interceptions.

U of L joined Indiana as schools that offered Clearwater, Fla., Countryside wide receiver Kee Whetzel on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Whetzel also has offers from Marshall, South Florida, South Alabama and Toledo for a total of six.

As a junior Whetzel played wide receiver, running back and in the secondary and had over 500 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns for Countryside.

Southwest Miami Senior High School safety C.J. McWilliams, who committed to Florida earlier this month, landed an offer from the Cardinals.

The 6-foot, 170-pound McWilliams also has an offer from Florida Atlantic. He committed to the Gators less than 48 hours after picking up the offer.

Last season at Southwest he had one interception and averaged 8.5 tackles a game on defense but was also the 11th leading receiver in Dade County.

McWilliams recently ran a 10.7 second time in the 100 meters.

U of L was the 13th offer for Highstown, N.J., The Peddie School offensive lineman Noah DeHond. He's a 6-foot-7, 320-pound prospect in the Class of 2017.
