The No.3 Louisville Cardinals practiced under perfect conditions on Wednesday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium as they continue preparing for NCAA Regional play the weekend.
U of L pitching coach Roger Williams is approaching the Regional, which includes Morehead State, Bradley and Michigan, on a game-to-game basis when deciding his starters this weekend.
"A Regional is a little different than a regular weekend series because you don't know who you are going to play every day," Williams said. "I don't see why we would deviate from what we've done all year, at the end of the day, but we're going to announce one game at a time and see who we play, and then announce the starter for the next game. At the end of the day, I don't see why we would deviate from that, especially if we get into a situation where we can only play three games and win, but obviously you can't do that until get the first one."
Williams visited with the media as the Cardinals were beginning practice and discussed his staff, including Friday starter Kyle Funkhouser. Sunday starter Josh Rogers and closer Zack Burdi also visited with the media.
