Louisville talks Super Regional

The third-ranked Louisville baseball team continued preparations for its weekend series against 13th-ranked Cal State Fullerton. Cardinal Authority was at the ballpark Thursday as a few players and coaches visited with the media.

The University of Louisville, the No.3 national seed, continued with Super Regional preparations under perfect conditions at Jim Patterson Stadium on Thursday.

Two-way standout Brendan McKay met with the media for the first time since being selected as the Louisville Slugger Freshman of the Year and discussed the honor.

"It's definitely a big accomplishment to play for one of the top schools in the country and to be able to receive that award," said McKay. "There's a lot of other freshman that are just as good but maybe don't play enough."

McKay, along with sophomore catcher Will Smith, and assistant coaches Roger Williams and Eric Snider visited discussed the weekend series against Cal State Fullerton:

The Cardinals are 0-3 all-time against Fullerton. The Cardinals lost 8-6 at the Opening Weekend Challenge in February and dropped a pair to the Titans at the 2009 Fullerton Super Regional.

Saturday's Super Regional opener between the Cardinals (46-16) and Titans (37-22) is set for 11 a.m., ET and will be televised nationally on ESPN2, while game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Sunday at noon on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. If necessary, the deciding third game is scheduled for Monday (ESPN or ESPN2) with the time to be determined following Sunday's second game.
