Facing elimination from the NCAA postseason, the No.3 national seed University of Louisville (47-17) responded with a dominating 9-3 win over Cal State Fullerton (38-23) in Super Regional play to force a deciding game three on Monday.

"Well, that was an ass-whoopin'," Titans head coach Rick Vanderhook said after the loss.

Starting pitcher Brendan McKay (9-3), who was named the Louisville Slugger Freshman of the Year, scattered eight hits and struck out nine, while allowing just two runs in seven innings of work.

Seven different Cardinals contributed to a 16 hit afternoon, including multi-hit performances from Corey Ray, Danny Rosenbaum, Devin Hairston and Logan Taylor.

"Obviously, Brendan gave us a great start and offensively we had a lot of quality at-bats," said U of L head coach Dan McDonnell. "We're blessed and excited that we get a chance to show up again tomorrow."
