Another Christian on U of L's roster

Cardinal Authority is counting down the days until the University of Louisville football team starts the season on Sept. 5 against Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Classic at the Georgia Dome. It's 88 days before the game and we look at freshman Geron Christian.

There's another Christian enrolled at Louisville.

Gerald Christian, the final pick of the NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, played his final two years at U of L and now his brother - Geron - is enrolled.

Geron Christian is an offensive lineman who signed in February, enrolled last week and is already working out with the football team.

His big brother said watch out for this Christian.

"He's going to be able to come in and play," Gerald Christian said. "He's a big, strong kid and he really liked it. He's hoping to get some playing time early."

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Geron Christian played at Ocala, Fla., Trinity Christian and originally had committed to Miami. But he backed off that pledge and committed to U of L. He had been on campus a few times since his brother transferred from Florida three years ago.

"He always liked it," Gerald said. "I think he's going to be a good one."

The younger Christian went to camp at Miami lastJune and earned an offer from the Hurricanes and then committed. He also had Arkansas and Mississippi State as other options.

He's expected to be one of a few newcomers this fall to battle for time on the line.
