The goal for some of the prospects attending recent camps at Louisville is to grab the attention to the coaching staff in hopes of landing an offer from the Cardinals program.
Among those to have a strong performance in front of the U of L coaching staff is Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay cornerback Darrell Malone Jr. The 6-foot, 195-pound athlete proved to be one of the better cover corners that have attended a camp.
"The coaches loved me," Malone reported. "I did extremely well. They thought highly of me."
Malone, who currently holds scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Ohio, Temple and others, hopes to add a Louisville offer to his list.
Following a few discussions with member of Petrino's staff at the camp, Malone feels one from the Cardinals may be on its way soon.
"They are going to watch film from the camp and go from there," he explained.
With additional visits planned for the coming months, including a stop at Auburn earlier this week, Malone continues to evaluate his options and doesn't claim any current leaders.
"I don't have any favorites right now, but the recruiting process is going good," he explained. "I'm just figuring out where I'll be spending the next four years."
