Louisville target helps NY Rens win title

Rawle Alkins, a top 25 player in the Class of 2015, helped lead the NY Rens team to the Adidas Gauntlet Finale title on Friday evening at North Gwinnett, Ga., High School. Alkins said his recruitment is "wide open," and confirmed Louisville is still on the list.

It's a busy time for Rawle Alkins.

Alkins, a 6-foot-5 guard from Middle Village, N.Y., is transferring from Christ the King High School to a prep school and had multiple prep school coaches following him around this week.

He's also the No. 21 ranked player in the Class of 2016 by Scout.com and has a long list of college suitors.

"It's crazy," Alkins said. "I spend a lot of time on the phone."

Alkins also spends a lot of time practicing. He was the best player at the Adidas Gauntlet Finale this week in Suwanee, Ga., garnering 34 points in the title game to lead the NY Rens past the Atlanta Celtics 80-66.

While he said earlier this week that he wasn't thinking too much about college recruiting right now, Alkins confirmed he was "wide open" and wasn't ready to narrow his list.

Schools that watched him this week included Alabama, Arizona, Butler, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and many more. He confirmed that Louisville is "still in the mix."

"Coach (Rick) Pitino likes New York guards," he said. "I like the style they play."
