Radcliff, Rankins named All-ACC

Two University of Louisville defensive stalwarts - James Burgess and Sheldon Rankins - have been tabbed as first-team All-ACC performers by the leagues media. The team was announced by the ACC on Thursday morning.

The University of Louisville football team lost some key pieces to the defense last season, but the Cardinals still have at least two potential all-league players on that side of the ball.

U of L defensive end Sheldon Rankins and linebacker James Burgess were voted to the Preseason All-ACC Team by the media in attendance at the 2015 ACC Kickoff. The ACC announced the teams on Thursday.

Rankins tied for the second-most votes received at defensive, while Burgess was the third top vote-getter among linebackers.

The team was selected by a vote of 163 media members, many of whom attended theACC Football Kickoff earlier this week at Pinehurst Resort. Clemson leads all schools with five selections to the 2015 All-ACC preseason team. Florida State and Virginia Tech each placed four student-athletes on the 2015 All-ACC preseason team, while Pitt had three selected.

Both players were in attendance at the media days and are also on three preseason watch lists.
