Jurich discusses Indiana series, more

University of Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich met with the media prior to the football kickoff luncheon on Friday afternoon, discussing the new series with Indiana, the upcoming football season, the recent men's basketball trip to Puerto Rico and more.

Moments prior to the annual Louisville football kickoff luncheon, the the athletic department announced a new series between the football and men's basketball programs on Friday.

The series on the hardwood will be the first to begin, with the two meeting at a neutral site game at Bankers Life Arena in Indianapolis on Dec. 31, 2016 with an equally divided arena. The Cardinals and Hoosiers will later play at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville as a home game for UofL on Dec. 9, 2017, and the teams will match up again in Assembly Hall in Bloomington on Dec. 8, 2018.

A game at a neutral site will also be the site for the first football game, which isn't until Sept. 16, 2023. The pair will face each other at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with seating split equally between the two schools. The second football game will be played in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville on Sept. 7, 2024 and the three-game series will be completed at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington on Sept. 6, 2025.

"I know I've wanted to do this since I got here in 1997, so it's been an 18 year process," Jurich said of the new series. "I think it's really exciting and even though it is a long time out, it is on the books."
