Chattanooga, Tenn., athlete JaVaughn Craig recaps his 'amazing' trip to Louisville

Chattanooga, Tenn., McCallie athlete JaVaughn Craig made a trip to the University of Louisville last weekend for the game against Samford. Craig recaps the trip for Cardinal Authority.

Chattanooga, Tenn., McCallie athlete JaVaughn Craig is still looking for his first Power 5 Conference scolarship offer, but he found a place on Saturday that he hopes the talks continue with in the future.

Craig, who has 12 offers on the board at this point, made an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville. He is being recruited by Garrick McGee and watched the Cardinals beat Samford 45-3.

"I absolutely loved it," Craig reports. "The game was great. There were a lot of big plays and exciting moments."

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Craig, who plays quaretrback at McCallie, said his trip to Louisville was "amazing." He had previously told Cardinal Authority that he had never been to a U of L football game but has spent time in the city for family reasons.

Craig has offers from Air Force, Army, Austin Peay, Illinois State, Navy, Northern Iowa, Western Carolina, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Jacksonville State, Wofford and Mercer.

But he's hoping for more soon. He has been talking to Louisville and also Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt among several others. Most of those schools are looking at him as an athlete.

Craig said for now he would stay in touch with the U of L staff. He was impressed by the team and the fans.

"For the team to play an FCS team after a 0-3 start, the atmosphere was very impressive," he said. "They have a lot of die hard fans and great support from all around the program and city of Louisville."
