Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino spends time watching three prospects in Oldsmar, Fla.

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino spent the night before the first official practice of the season on the road recruiting. Pitino was at Oldsmar, Fla., Christian School watching three prospects.

On the night before practice officially begins for the new season, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was in the Sunshine State. But it wasn't for vacation, Pitino was on a recruiting trip.

Pitino and U of L assistant coach Mike Balado stopped in to Oldsmar, Fla., Christian to watch a trio of prospects. Oldsmar coach Jordan Fair confirmed to Cardinal Authority that the U of L coaches did watch practice.

Two of the prospects are players that U of L has already offered.

L.J. Figueroa, a who is a native of the Dominican Republic, is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard in the Class of 2017 that U of L has been recruiting since last spring. He also has offers from Florida, Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Central Florida and South Florida.

Figueroa averaged 15 points a game last season for Oldsmar.

Elijah Weaver is a Class of 2018 point guard who the Cardinals have offered. He's a 6-foot-5 prospect who also has offers from Florida, Nebraska and South Florida and interest from Florida State.

Weaver was the leading scorer for Florida Air Academy in Melbourne last season.

The third prospect the coaches evaluated was 2018 shooting guard Antwann Jones. The 6-foot-5 Jones is from Tampa, Fla., originally and already has several offers, including South Carolina. U of L has not offered Jones.
