Louisville senior DT Sheldon Rankins has accepted a spot into the Senior Bowl

Louisville senior defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins has been accepted to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl. The bowl is for the top seniors in the country and will be played Jan. 30 at Mobile, Ala.

Sheldon Rankins has been one of the top players for the University of Louisville defense during his career.

Now, Rankins gets to prove it on a national level.

The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Rankins has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl on Jan. 30 in Mobile, Ala. It's the 67th annual game played in front of the NFL scouts and on the NFL Network.

Rankins, a third-team All-ACC selection last season, has started 10 games at defensive end as the Cardinals are once again one of the top 15 defenses in the country. He ranks fifth on the team in tackles with 44 and is second on the squad with 5.5 sacks.

A stellar career, Rankins will finish inside the school's top 10 list for sacks and currently has 115 tackles.

He's the 32nd player from U of L to be selected to play in the Senior Bowl.
