The University of Louisville football team will renew a series with Pittsburgh that dates back to 1976.
The two teams will meet on Saturday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. in Heinz Field, in the 17th meeting of the two schools. The series is tied at 8.
But this has been a series of runs by each school.
Pittsburgh won the first four meetings, from 1976-83 with the closest score being a 27-6 win in the first meeting. And then it was Louisville's turn, winning the next seven meetings in the series from '90 to 2007.
Four of those seven wins for U of L came on the road, including a Bobby Petrino-coached team waxing the Panthers 48-24 in 2006.
The Panthers then won four straight in 2008, '08, 10 and 11 before the Cardinals rolled 45-35 in Pittsburgh in 2012.
In the last meeting, Teddy Bridgewater threw for 304 yards and one touchdown, while Senorise Perry rushed for four TDs.
