As it prepares for its regular season finale, a road trip to rival Kentucky, the Louisville defense is working to shore up its ability to limit big play opportunities, an area where they were hurt in the passing game against both Virginia and Pittsburgh.
The Cardinals are currently No. 17 nationally in total defense, surrendering 326 yards per game. They also check it at No. 17 against the run, limiting opponents to just 121 yards per game, while against the pass the Cardinals are No. 56.
Following the team's two-hour practice session inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, along with senior defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins, who has never lost to the rival Wildcats, discussed the upcoming contest with assembled media.
Kickoff for the Governor's Cup rivalry is scheduled for noon at Commonweatlth Stadium in Lexington.
