Louisville has the commitment of Port Charlotte, Fla., defensive end Kordell Slater.
The 6-foot-6, 265-pound prospect was among the group of athletes making their official visits with the Cardinals program over the weekend and he made his decision before leaving.
"It was just me and Coach Petrino meeting, so when I told him he was pretty fired up," Slater told Cardinal Authority on Sunday morning.
"It's an awesome place," he said. "Being up here on my official visit and I've been able to meet some really good players, good guys. I was able to get a good feel for the city."
Slater, a former South Florida pledge, was recruited primarily by U of L assistant L.D. Scott, as well as defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
"I'm going to be able to play a couple positions," he explained. "I'm going to play defensive end and some three technique, too. So, I'll be able to play across the line and see how my body builds the next couple of years."
Slater will be an early enrollee and will arrive back on campus on January 3.
