University of Louisville football commitment Rodjay Burns of Trinity was named a finalist for Kentucky Mr. Football. The winner will be announced later this month.

One of four in-state commitments for the University of Louisville, Trinity High School senior Rodjay Burns was named one of the top players in the state of Kentucky on Saturday.

Burns, a two-way standout, was named one of nine finalists for Mr. Football. He's the lone U of L commitment on the list for the award, which will be announced later this month.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Burns finished his senior season with 44 catches for 744 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also played safety and had 22 tackles and four interceptions.

Burns, who recently picked up an offer from Ohio State and said he could visit the Buckeyes, is expected to visit U of L officialy next month. He's not sure what side of the ball he will play in college.

Other finalists: Lafayette's Mason Alstatt (Wofford), Ashland's Quinton Baker (Western Kentucky), Paintsville's Kash Daniel (Kentucky), Pulaski County's Riley Hall (undecided), Fern Creek's Lamarius Kinslow (Western Kentucky), Male's Hayden Shelton (undecided), North Laurel's Steve Nelson (undecided) and Whitley County's Luke Woods (undecided).
