Tennessee DL favors Cardinals

Gregory Gallatin was impressed with the Cardinal program when he visited during the spring. ITV recently talked with the defensive lineman about the progress of his recruiting.

Defensive end Gregory Gallatin of Cleveland, TN, which is located just outside of Chattanooga, has the distinction of being his high school's first Division IA recruit. Walker Valley High School is still in its infancy and will beginning just its third school year this August.

Being such a new school, as well as a new football program, athletes at Walker Valley have been under the radar.

To ensure that college coaches are aware of him, Gallatin scheduled a busy spring, attending camps at Tennessee, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. He also made the trip to Louisville to make an unofficial visit in April.

"I like the people and the coaches there," said Gallatin of his visit to Louisville. "The facilities are real nice."

While Gallatin, who also plays tight end, is hearing from a number of smaller programs, he informed me that he does receive interest from both Louisville and Vanderbilt quite often.

"I have dreamed about this since I was probably 7 years old," said Gallatin of his recruitment. "Right now Louisville is my top choice."

While there's little doubt that his performances at the camps that he attended will bring additional attention this fall when football resumes, the Cardinals appear to be in great shape with a solid and developing defensive end.
