Entering the final weeks until National Signing Day in the first week of February, the University of Louisville coaching staff is working to complete the 2016 recruiting class. During the coming weeks numerous prospects will take in what the Cardinals program has to offer during an official visit.
Eroll Thompson, a three-star linebacker from Florence, Ala., is among those that Bobby Petrino and his staff have targeted during the final stages of the recruiting process.
Currently a Mississippi State commit, the 6-foot-2, 255-pound Thompson will visit Louisville later this month. Rated among the top 20 inside linebackers by Scout.com, he also has plans to visit Arkansas prior to signing day.
"Everything is still pretty solid with me, but I still want to take a couple more visits," he said. "I'm going to visit Louisville and Arkansas at the end of January."
"I want to get a second look at them," he said of Louisville. "I went up there before, so I want to go back and see how everything is and to get another look at what they have to offer."
Having made an unofficial visit with Arkansas during the season, Thompson also wants a closer look at the Razorbacks.
"I went up there for a game, but didn't get to see to much, so really it's about getting a second look with them," he said.
While he remains firm with his commitment with the Bulldogs, Thompson does leave the door slightly open for a possible switch.
"I'd say that I'm pretty locked in, but I'd say there's a slim chance."
In addition to his trio of finalists, Thompson also holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Southern Miss, Tennnessee and others.
U of L assistant L.D. Scott is serving as the primary recruiter with Thompson.
