Cardinal Authority takes a look at a few recruiting notes from the University of Louisville football staff, including a couple of new offers and a couple of visits set for the Cardinals.

3-star WR from Miami sets visit

Miami Senior High School three-star wide receiver Keyshawn Young announced via his Twitter account that he will make a visit to the University of Louisville campus next weekend. Young will also visit USC on Jan. 22 and Tennessee on Jan. 27.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Young has already visited Michigan and said his fifth could be to either Miami or Alabama.

Young is rated as the No. 63 wide receiver in the country.

Another visitor from Miami?

The Cardinals could also be hosting another top player from Miami next weekend.

Miami Central safety Jamel Cook, the No. 79 player in the Scout300 nationally, has already visited Auburn and is listed as a "soft verbal" to Florida State. But he's taking some other viists.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Cook has a visit to USC on Jan. 22 and is still deciding on either Louisville or Miami for next weekend.

Cook is playing this weekend in the U.S. Army All-American game.

Cards off Alabama safety

Montgomery, Ala., Lee safety Daniel Thomas picked up an offer from the Cardinals. His recruiting process has soared in recent weeks with a bevy of big-time offers for the 6-foot, 182-pounder.

U of L will try and get Thomas on campus. But he already has visits this month set up for South Carolina (Jan. 15), Maryland (Jan. 22) and Clemson (Jan. 29).

Thomas has a total of 17 offers.

Georgia two-way star lands Louisville offer

Savannah, Ga., Jenkins two-way star Arkeem Byrd has a Louisville offer.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Byrd said the U of L coaches "have been in contact" with him for a while and kept him up-to-date on when and if he might have an offer from the Cardinals.

Byrd said he's friends with current U of L player DeAngelo Brown and "he tells me nothing but great things."

The Cardinals are recruiting Byrd as a running back. He also plays defensive back and said he will visit Tennessee next weekend.

U of L, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest are other schools that could get a visit.

As a senior, Byrd rushed for 1,220 yards and 16 touchdowns in nine games. He also had 10 catches for 120 yards and another touchdown and had 24 tackles on defense.

JUCO OL set U of L visit

San Bernardino Valley College offensive lineman Paul Ramirez confirmed his Louisville visit will be Jan. 15.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Ramirez has already visited Purdue and is also looking at Arkansas and Arizona State.
