The University of Louisville football team had two junior college standout players - defensive end Chris Williams and cornerback Ronald Walker - enroll in classes last week.
But the recruitment of JUCO players is not over for the U of L staff.
Three junior college standouts will be among about a dozen official visitors to the Cardinals' campus this weekend. The visitors are expected to arrive on Saturday and stay through Monday since it's a holiday weekend.
"Yes sir, I'll be there," Long Beach City College safety London Iakopo confirmed.
The 6-foot, 210-pound Iakopo is currently committed to Arizona and will have three years to complete two when he enrolls at a school. Iakopo is a physical, hard-hitting safety who had a solid season at Long Beach.
Iakopo racked up 58 tackles, two sacks, 7.5 tackles for a loss, forced a fumble, blocked three kicks and collected two interceptions to earn first team all-conference honors during his second season at Long Beach.
Lackawanna College linebacker Kapri Doucet will also make his visit to U of L this weekend before heading to Oklahoma next week. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Doucet had been committed to Arizona but backed off that commitment to the Wildcats after a coaching staff shake up.
Doucet, a native of Williamsburg, Va., had 59 tackles, six sacks, two fumble recoveries and one interception in nine games this season as a sophomore at Lackawanna. He returned the interception for a touchdown and one of the fumble recoveries for a TD.
San Bernardino offensive tackle Paul Ramirez will also make a visit to Louisville this weekend. The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Ramirez was named first team CCCAA All-American honors and now has 15 offers.
Ramirez has already taken a visit to New Mexico and is also expected to visit Indiana and maybe Arizona State.
