The final weeks of 2016 recruiting cycle is now here and Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino and his staff will be hosting a number of prospects during the coming weekends leading up to National Signing Day.
Among an impressive group of recruits visiting the Cardinals program this weekend are a talented trio from the Miami, Fla., area.
Jamel Cook of Miami Central is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound four-star safety and considered a soft commit to Florida State. Having already made official visits with Auburn and Miami, Cook will be in Louisville this weekend and has a trip to USC scheduled for the following weekend. Rated as the top safety prospect in the Sunshine State, Cook checks in at No. 5 nationally at his position. Scout places him as the No. 79 overall prospect in the nation.
Miami Central teammate Eric Mitchell will join Cook this weekend in The Ville. This weekend's official visit will be the first for the 6-foot-1, 215-pound defensive end, who also has plans to visit Central Florida, Toledo and others. Mitchell, a three-star prospect, is rated among the nation's top 100 players at his position and No. 33 in the South Region.
Miami Senior wide receiver Keyshawn Young is also expected to make the trip this weekend. In addition to his coming visit with U of L, Young also visited Michigan in November and has upcoming trips to Tennessee and USC. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound target is rated among the South Region's top 30 and is among the nation's top 100 receivers by Scout. Alabama, Clemson, Miami and South Carolina were also among his suitors.
