The Cardinals will welcome an impressive group of prospects for official visits this weekend

Cardinal football welcomes an impressive group of prospects to the Derby City this weekend

There may not be a game at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium this weekend, but the lights will shine into the night to show off the facility and there is a growing buzz throughout the Howard Schnellenberger Complex as the Louisville coaching staff is prepping to host a collection of highly-sought after prospects.

With a recruiting class that is 20 deep, the Cardinals have litte room left to complete the 2016 class and the efforts to close strong begins as the visitors arrive on Friday. During their weekend stay in the Derby City, the prospects will tour the program's facilities and the campus, spend time visiting with the players and coaches and take some time to enjoy some of what the city has to offer.  Prior to departing, each will visit individually with head coach Bobby Petrino.

Three current U of L commitments - Rodjay Burns, Derek Dorsey and Caleb Tilman - will be among the group that is expected to be at least a dozen strong.

A number of others currently pledged elsewhere are also expected.  Among those making the trip to compare what Louisville has to offer versus where they are currently verbally committed are London Iakopo, a four-star junior college safety and Arizona commit, and safety Jamel Cook of Miami (Fla.) Central, currently considered a soft Florida State commit.

The visitors will arrive from multiple states, including California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Oklahoma, and will include a balanced mix of high school and junior college prospects.
