Manual High School senior defensive tackle Derek Dorsey isn't far from the University of Louisville campus with his high school located just across the street basically from the Floyd Street campus.
But Dorsey was still excited for his official visit to U of L last week and after the visit gave the Cardinals' rave reviews.
"I'm really still so excited and am just ready to get to work," Dorsey said. "I spent a lot of time with Cole Hiktunini (his host) and saw a lot of the campus. I am close but there were still a few things I hadn't seen about the campus.
"It's great and I'm really excited about it."
Dorsey, who committed to U of L in March, reaffirmed his commitment to the U of L staff on his visit. Head coach Bobby Petrino also made an in-home visit on Monday night with Dorsey and his family.
"I love the staff at Louisville and everything about the program," Dorsey said. "They're so good at everything, including the development of players size wise. They'll give you a picture on week one and six weeks later you will look so different.
"I can't wait to get to work there."
Dorsey said because he is so close and that he has been to campus so many times that he didn't see too many new things, but that still didn't matter as he left his visit with a big smile.
"It's weird to think those guys will be my teammates next season," he said. "I've been watching them and saw them on TV but now they're my teammates and I can't wait."
