The University of Louisville football staff has done well with former Georgia players in recent history, now the Cardinals are trying to lure in another former Bulldog signee.
East Mississippi Community College linebacker Gary McCrae - who was a member of Georgia's signing class last season but didn't make it to campus - was a surprise official visitor this weekend at Louisville.
McCrae is getting recruited by Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan State and Clemson, but opted to make the trip to Louisville where he is being recruited by defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
McCrae was also a standout basketball player at Randolph-Clay High in Cuthbert, Georgia and plays on the hoops team at East Mississippi, where he was a stand-up defensive end in football this season. McCrae was 220 pounds in high school but is now listed at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds by his junior college.
Mccrae went the junior college route to work on his academics and also to rehab a shoulder injury. He had surgery on Feb. 23.
