Carrollton, Ga., High School defensive end Michael Boykin has known where he wanted to go to school since July. He committed to the University of Louisville and said it was the place for him.
But he wanted to make certain, so he took his official visit to U of L this weekend.
And after the visit, Boykin reports he will sign with the Cardinals on Wednesday.
"It was awesome," Boykin said. "The environment, the coaches, it was just the best."
The 6-foot-7, 275-pound Boykin picked the Cardinals over Auburn but had a bunch of other schools involved until the very end of his recruitment. He remained committed since the end of July.
Now, Boykin said he can't wait to get to campus.
"I'm ready to go to work and go hard," Boykin said. "We'll all see what's good."
Considered an Auburn lean a few weeks before committing to U of L, the Cardinals increased their efforts in the recruitment of Boykin and hosted Boykin on an unofficial in mid-July. He participated in the Cardinals 'Friday Night Lights' camp, toured campus and the program's facilities, as well as strengthen his relationships with members of the Louisville coaching staff throughout his visit.
Boykin also held scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Wake Forest and others.
