Louisville holds off others late to land signature from Alabama three-star safety/linebacker P.J. Blue

Montgomery, Ala., Park Crossing safety/linebacker P.J. Blue had late interest from Oklahoma but has signed with the University of Louisville. Blue is a huge pickup for the Cardinals on the defensive side of the ball.

A one-time commitment to South Carolina, Montgomery, Ala., Park Crossing safety/linebacker P.J. Blue committed to the University of Louisville in early December.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Blue then picked up late interest from Oklahoma.

He made a visit to Norman, Okla., two weeks ago but on Wednesday signed his letter-of-intent to play for Louisville. Blue was on his official visit to the Cardinals last week and the visit sealed the deal.

Blue is ranked as the No. 17 safety prospect in the South but could project as a linebacker at the next level.

In his first season at Park Crossing as a senior, Blue had 67 tackles, two interceptions and six pass deflections as a safety for the Thunderbirds. He was named to the All-State team and was selected to play in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game.
