Malik Staples wasn't the only option on offense at Suwanee, Ga., Peachtree Ridge High School. In fact, the school had about a dozen Division I prospects and the ball was spread around this past season.
But Staples is still one of the top backs in the country.
The 6-foot, 210-pound running back turned down offers to Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina back in June and stayed committed to Louisville. He signed his paperwork on Wednesday.
Staples could be a workhorse in the backfield with a style similar to former U of L back Michael Bush.
"Staples runs with power," says Scout's Chad Simmons. "He is a bigger back who runs with pretty good pad level and he gets many of his yards after contact. He is not going to juke defenders, but he runs through them."
Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on all of the Louisville signees throughout the day.
