Louisville adds junior college running back/athlete Malik Williams on signing day; he visited U of L two weeks ago

Junior college running back/athlete Malik Williams was a signing day addition for the University of Louisville football program. Williams only played running back for half of his season and finished with nine scholarship offers.

Malik Williams started this past season at Allen Hancock Junior College as a wide receiver, but was moved to running back during the season and ended up leading his team in rushing.

The colleges took notice.

Williams ended up with nine offers and on Wednesday announced - and signed - with the University of Louisville. He could play running back or wide rceiver for the Cardinals' offense.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Williams took his official visit to Louisville two weeks ago.

"I loved my trip (to Louisville)," Williams noted. "I had a great time up there meeting with the coaches and the the players. They really made me feel at home there."

As a sophomore this past season, Williams played multiple roles, but he made most of his impact at tailback, carrying the ball nearly 100 times for close to 600 yards and five touchdowns while hauling in 18 receptions for just over 200 yards and another score.

Williams is originally from Wilson, N.C., and played ball at Hunt High School. He has three years to play two at U of L.
