Bobby Petrino is 17-9 with two bowl appearances in his second stint as the University of Louisville head football coach. But it's more about the wins and losses that have impressed athletic director Tom Jurich.
"This is the Bobby 2.0 that wants to be here," Jurich said on Thursday.
And the boss wants to repay Petrino with a new contract extension. He told Petrino several days ago that was the plan and said it's in the works to extend it perhaps another three years into the future.
"That's something I am going to do right away," Jurich said. "I want to extend his contract. He's earned that. I want coaches that want to be here and, he wants to be here. Him and his family, his kids and grandkids are all settled in, and that's what I like.
"I like every decision I see from Bobby 2.0, every decision he's making is for the long term. That's a great asset to have and he's earned this. I want to keep him here for as long as he wants to stay."
Jurich said he's also looking at "taking care of" the football assistant coaches.
"I love the direction I see (with the program)," he said.
