Top in-state youngster Ziyon Kenner checked out Louisville last weekend at the Cardinals' Junior Day

The University of Louisville football staff hosted one of the state's top young prospects - Ziyon Kenner - on Saturday at Junior Day. Kenner is a wide receiver from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville.

Christian County High School wide receiver Ziyon Kenner - one of the state's top prospects in the Class of 2018 - checked out the University of Louisville last weeend for the Cardinals Junior Day.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Kenner was one of about 40 prospects on campus last Saturday. He met with the U of L coaches, took a tour of campus and watched the U of L vs. Duke basketball game at the KFC Yum Center.

"It was great," Kenner said. "I loved it up there. I really liked what I saw from them."

Kenner has just arond 1,000 yards in two seasons receiving and should be considered one of the state's elite prospects in any class next season. He also played running back as a sophomore for the Colonels.

While it's early in his recruiting process, Kenner said he is also hearing from Western Kentucky, Kentucky and Austin Peay.

But he said the visit to Louisville was "really nice" and gavce the Cardinals a good start in his recruitment.

"I like the staff and the facility they have," Kenner said. "We went to the Louisville and Duke game and I loved their atmosphere and fans. They told me they'll keep in touch with me and to make sure I come to their camp."

Kenner said he would camp at U of L this summer.

As a freshman, Kenner had 43 catches for 641 yards and seven touchdowns. Last season, Kenner had 799 yards rushing, 439 yards receiving and 15 total touchdowns.
