Former Louisville football standout Sheldon Rankins drew a lot of high praise at the NFL Combine this weekend

Former University of Louisville defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins has drawn high praise this weekend at the NFL Combine. Here's a recap of what Rankins did during the workouts and what some folks are saying about his performance.

Former University of Louisville defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins had already worked his way into the first round of the NFL Draft, according to most draft analysts heading into the NFL Combine.

But with his showing at the combine, the 6-foot-1, 304-pound Rankins looks like he's risen even higher on some boards.

Rankins ran a 5.03 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Sunday, which only ranked 35th best among the 57 defensive linemen but analysts pointed out it was impressive considering his weight.

Mike Mayock of the NFL Network said he would be "surprised" if Rankins isn't a top 20 pick. Rankins also had a vertical of 34.5 inches - 11th at his position - and a broad jump of 9-10 - tied for 10th at his position.

Rankins was praised by the NFL Network folks for having great explosiveness at the snap and also in changing direction.
