With a scholarship offer list that has climbed above a dozen, Birmingham (Ala.) Carver linebacker Tadarrius Patterson has quickly become one of the most sought-after prospects from his state.
On Wednesday, Louisville officially added its name to the list of schools to extend an offer to the 6-foot-1, 215-pound pass-rusher.
"I was really suprised," Patterson told Cardinal Authority.
While the offer may have come as a bit of surprise, Patterson has been building a relationship with the Cardinals program for some time. U of L defensive line coach L.D. Scott, who has enjoyed recruiting success throughout Alabama, is the primary recruiter for Patterson.
"We have been building a relationship for a while," said Patterson, who added that the Cardinals staff like his "pass rushing skills, I'm physical, and my linebacker skills."
A Scout.com three-star prospect Patterson includes Auburn, Missississippi State, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Troy, UAB and Southern Miss among his growing list of offers.
Patterson was previously scheduled to attend a recent Junior Day at Louisville, but was unable to attend. However, he's already making plans to visit in the coming weeks.
"I will be up there in the spring," he said.
