Plant City, Fla., wide receiver Antoine Thompson has become a hot target in recent weeks, with multiple school extending scholarship offers. Louisville became one of the latest to do so this week and the opportunity has grabbed the attention of the rising Sunshine State prospect.
"I was very excited about the offer," he told Cardinal Authority. "It's a good area, nice offense play calling, plus they play in the competitive ACC conference."
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Thompson told Scout.com earlier this week that he believes he could make an impact in Bobby Petrino's high-octane offense.
"I like their style of offense," he said. "They get to the ball quick to the wide receivers hards, and get the ball in the playmakers hands. I feel like I could something for their program."
In addition to Louisville, Thompson also holds scholarship offers from Bowling Green, FIU, Mississippi State, Toledo, UCF and Wisconsin. With recruiting continuing to heat up, he's not ready to claim a short list of favorites, but does admit that a few stand out.
"Not at the moment, but Mississippi State, UCF, Wisconsin and Louisville are a few."
In no rush to make a decision, Thompson will make visits - checking out Louisville this spring - to some of the schools expressing an interest. At this point, he's keeping options open and enjoying the recruiting process.
"I'm enjoying it," he said. "I'm blessed for the opportunity and talent that I have and for a big D1 schools to notice means a lot to me."
