University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino didn't waste any time - and seemingly hit a home run - in making a hire to replace Garrick McGee, who left last week to take a job at Illinois.
Sources confirm to Cardinal Authority that Petrino will hire West Virginia associate head coach and wide receiver coach Lonnie Galloway as the Cardinals' co-offensive coordinator with line coach Chris Klenakis.
Galloway, who has also coaches at Wake Forest, East Carolina, Appalachian State and Elon, was recently offered a contract extension through the 2017 season at West Virginia. He first worked with the Mountaineers in 2008 as the wide receiver coach, but left in 2010 to become the passing game co-coordinator at Wake Forest.
He returned to West Virginia in 2013 and has been the associate head coach and wide receivers coach there.
Known as a standout recruiter, Galloway has coaches five professional players, three all-conference players and two All-Americans in his two stints at West Virginia. He recruited and coached All-American Tavon Austin.
