It's March Madness time for the University of Louisville women's basketball team.
The No. 8-ranked Cardinals - seeded No. 3 in the Dallas Regional - will open NCAA Tournament play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Central Arkansas in the KFC Yum Center. DePaul and James Madison play in the opening game at noon.
Louisville (25-7, 15-1 ACC) is making its 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and sixth consecutive under head coach Jeff Walz, who has led the Cardinals to eight overall in his reign at Louisville. As a No. 3 seed, the Cardinals have achieved a 10-3 record, advancing to the Final Four (2009), Elite Eight (2014), and Sweet 16 (2015).
On the season, Myisha Hines-Allen is leading the Cardinals in scoring with 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds.
It's the first meeting between the two schools. The Sugar Bears (28-3) won the Southland Tournament and are 15-1 this season away from home. Maggie Proffitt leads the Sugar Bears with 14.3 points a game.
