Freshman Taja Cole leaving the Louisville women's basketball team; averaged just 15.2 minutes a game as a freshman

University of Louisville freshman point guard Taja Cole will transfer from the program. Cardinal Authority confirmed the news on Wednesday night. She averaged 15.2 minutes a game for the Cardinals this season.

The University of Louisville women's basketball team has lost one member of its No. 1 recruiting class from last season.

Freshman point guard Taja Cole, a former McDonald's All-American, is transferring. Cardinal Authority confirmed the news on Wednesday night after Cole had posted it on her social media accounts.

A native of Virginia, the 5-foot-7 Cole averaged just 15.2 minutes a game as a freshman. She averaged 2.9 points a game and shot just 33 percent from the field, including 10 of 33 from three-point range.

Cole only played a little over five minutes in the NCAA Tournament loss to DePaul on Sunday.

The Cardinals have point guard Arica Carter, who will return for her junior season, while five-star guard Sydney Zambrotta has signed and will be a freshman at U of L in the fall.

U of L coach Jeff Walz is on the West Coast recruiting and was unavailable for comment.
