Louisville hosts Central Gwinnett safety/athlete Hunter Sims; recaps unofficial visit to see Cardinals spring practice

The University of Louisville football staff has hosted a bunch of prospects in recent weeks for spring ball. Central Gwinnett, Ga., High School safety/athlete Hunter Sims recaps his unofficial visit to the U of L practice.

The University of Louisville football staff has hosted quite a few visitors to spring practice the last two weeks.

One group last weekend was from Central Gwinnett, Ga., High School and included top 2017 safety/athlete Hunter Sims, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound standout who has 4.6 speed.

Sims, the brother of former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims, has also visited Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.

But he called U of L his top school after making the visit to campus.

"It was great I loved that place and definitely would be a choice for me," Sims said. "I just want to work hard for that offer because Louisville was a great place coach Pete Nochta made me feel like I was at home."

Sims said he made the visit to U of L and the next day he was up at 7 a.m. training. He doesn't have an offer from any school at this point but sais he's hopeful the first one is coming soon.

And as far as the Cardinals, Sims is hoping the first offer comes from the U of L staff.

"I love the way the defense flies around to the ball and the offense is high tempo," Sims said. "I just know in the future that I want to be a Cardinal and I will work to be that explosive player they look for just like Shaq Wiggins and like (Traveon Samuel). They both are not that big but explosive players I want to make plays for Louisville."
