Corey Ray's ground-rule double gives Louisville a 9-8 walk-off victory over Clemson; second walk-off win of the season for the Cardinals

Louisville junior Corey Ray had a walk-off ground-rule double as the Cardinals dealt Clemson a 9-8 loss and swept the Tigers' in a weekend series at Jim Patterson Stadium. Louisville is now 29-7 overall and 13-5 in the ACC.

Corey Ray had a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning, but that wasn't his biggest swing of the game.

Ray smoked a ground-rule walk-off double to left center field to give the Cardinals a 9-8 decision over Clemson before 2,818 fans at Jim Patterson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals swept the Tigers in the three-game series over the weekend. U of L had 14 hits in the final game and finished with 46 hits in three games over the weekend.

Ray had two hits and three RBIs, while Brendan McKay, Devin Hairston, Blake Tiberi and Will Smith had two hits apiece. Smith also had two RBIs, while Hairston and McKay had an RBI apiece.

The Cardinals won despite four errors. Shane Hummel pitched a perfect ninth inning and picked up his second win of the week.

U of L plays Kentucky on Tuesday night at 6 o'clock.
