The University of Louisville football staff has tapped the Junior College ranks for another running back.

Itawamba, Miss., Community College running back Octavius Matthews tweeted on Thursday night that he had committed to the Cardinals. U of L defensive line coach L.D. Scott made a visit to his school earlier in the day.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Matthews picked U of L over offers from Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee State, Troy and UAB. He ran for 808 yards and four touchdowns on just 90 carries as a freshman at the JUCO.

Matthews is a member of the Class of 2017 and can sign with the Cardinals in December.

He's a former teammate of U of L incoming freshman Austin Cummins at North Jackson High School in Stevenson, Ala.

Matthews is the third commitment in the '17 class.
