Louisville's women;'s basketball program landed a big commitment from Class of 2017 post Loretta Kakala

The University of Louisville women's basketball staff landed commitment No. 1 from the Class of 2017 on Saturday night as California post Loretta Kakala committed to the Cardinals on her official visit.

The University of Louisville women's staff landed another big-time commitment on Saturday night, picking up a verbal from California 2017 post player Loretta Kakala.

The 6-foot-3 Kakala is from Manteca, Calif., and is listed as the No. 21 player in the '17 class by ProspectsNation.com, while she checks in at No. 26 in the class by ESPN.com.

A first-team All-District player, Kakala averaged 16 points and 8.5 rebounds a game despite a couple of injuries as a junior.

She'll sign in November and is the first commitment in the '17 class for the U of L women.

The Cardinals have now landed 16 commitments in the '14, '15, '16 and '17 classes with 15 of the 16 being ranked in the top 60 of at least one service, 11 of those in the top 30 and eight in the top 20.
