Fort Wayne, Ind., prospect Malik Williams has already collected a number of impressive scholarship offers and on Thursday night the four-star center added Louisville to his growing list.
Williams currently ranks among the top 50 prospects nationally in the 2017 recruiting class, and checks in as the No. 13 center. In addition to his offering from the Cardinals, the 6-foot-10 Williams also has Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State and Xavier.
While the Louisville staff has kept tabs on Williams for some time and the recruitment of him continues to rise, it's believed that one program currently stands out. In his latest national recruiting report, Scout.com National Recruiting Analyst Brian Snow indicated as such.
"At the moment most of the buzz surrounding Williams has centered on Michigan State. The Spartans had a productive in-home visit with Williams, and Tom Izzo has done a terrific job of making it clear to Williams how he would fit in, and also being close to his home in Ft. Wayne is considered a major plus."
Louisville's offer will impact on his recruitment, which may or may not come to an end in August.
"One thing that will be interesting to watch is will Williams decide in August," Snow explained. "He has talked about either committing or simply naming finalists on August 26. If he does commit on that date it will be tough for any school to make up too much ground, but if he only narrows his list that brings a lot more possibilities into the picture."
