Louisville sophomore pitcher Brendan McKay was named as the Friday starter

RALEIGH, NC -- Dan McDonnell confirmed that Brendan McKay will start Louisville's Friday contest against Clemson in the ACC Baseball Tournament

Following a 9-5 win over Wake Forest to open ACC Tournament pool play, Louisville had Thursday off and spent a portion of the day practicing at NC State's Doak Field in nearby Raleigh.

The Cardinals spent nearly 90 minutes working in the heat, with an emphasis on hitting and fielding.

"For us we have always said this is week 15," said U of L head coach Dan McDonnell. "This is another week. We played a Wednesday game and we've always practiced on Thursday throughout the year and we are about to start a weekend series.  For us, this is routine-like."

McDonnell confirmed with Cardinal Authority following the team's practice that sophomore Brendan McKay will start against Clemson.

Louisville swept the Tigers earlier this season at Jim Patterson Stadium, outscoring Clemson 31-12 in the three-game set.

First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
