Fall Practice: Day Six...Two-a-Days
The Cardinal football team had a long day on Tuesday as they began two-a-days, practicing in the morning and afternoon. The defense had it's share of fine moments during the morning session, intercepting three passes, two from Justin Rascati and one from Stefan LeFors.
In the afternoon, though, the offense clearly had its way with the defense, spreading the ball around to several different receivers and handing the ball to Eric Shelton.
The team will practice only once on Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m. and then will return to two-a days on Thursday.
Here's Tuesday's report from both the morning and afternoon sessions from the practice field.
QB Stefan Lefors and Justin Rascati received the majority of the snaps during the morning session. LeFors threw an interception and Rascati threw two INT's during the morning session drills.
RB When the pads went on, Eric Shelton appeared to separate himself from his competitors. Shelton ran hard during the afternoon session and took one the distance against the number one defense. FB Brian Hall continued to impress with his blocking ability and RB T.J. Patterson enjoyed a good day running and catching the ball out of the backfield.

WR Victor Glenn was the standout during the afternoon session, hauling in several passes, including an impressive over the shoulder grab along sideline for a 30 yard gain. TE Ronnie Ghent was impressive with his pass catching ability and WR's Josh Tinch and Broderick Clark made several catches. TE Richard Owens continues to impress with his ability to catch the ball over the middle of the field.
DL DE Chap Rimpsey played well and had a quarterback "sack." DE Matt Sanders recorded two "sacks" during the afternoon session and ran to the ball well. DL Elvis Dumervil continues to get in the backfield and pressure the QB's.
DB S Kerry Rhodes intercepted Stefan LeFors during skeleton drills in the morning session. S Ray Childs picked a Justin Rascati pass during the morning session. Freshman corner William Gay impressed with his coverage ability and potential starter Gavin Smart picked off a pass during the afternoon session.
