Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz and his staff has hit the road recruiting; check out some prospects the Cardinals will target

University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz and his staff have hit the road for the first of two recruiting evaluation periods this month. The staff will be all over the country recruiting from July 6-12. Here are some targets for the staff.

University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz is expected to be all over the country during the next seven days.

But it's certainly not a vacation. Walz and his staff have hit the road for the first of two recruiting evaluation periods this month. Per NCAA rules, Division I women's schools can recruit July 6-12 and will then be back on the road July 23-29.

The Cardinals have one commitment in the Class of 2017 - Manteca, Calif., post Loretta Kakala - and one in the Class of 2019 - Texas guard Nyah Green - but are looking to add a few more top prospects.

U of L is looking to sign at least four in the '17 class.

Walz is expected to check in at the Run for the Roses Classic in Lexington to see several targets, while also hitting USA Basketball U-18 National team workouts where three U of L targets are participating.

Among those in Colorado Spring: Gary, Ind., point guard Dana Evans, South Salem, Ore., guard Evina Westbrook and Arlington, Tx., point guard Chennedy Carter. Westbrook is the No. 2 ranked prospect in the '17 class, while Evans is ranked No. 3 and Carter is No. 8.

All three prospects have the Cardinals on their short lists of schools with Evans having recently visited campus.

Louisville will also have staff members in Oregon at the End of the Trail National Showcase, the Super 64 National Championship in Frisco, Tx., the Big State Flava Jam in Frisco, Tx., and later in the week the Battle of the Boro in Nashville and the Nike EYBL events in Chicago and Nashville. There are also events in Suwanee, Ga., and Smyrna, Tenn.

Among the other top targets the Cardinals are tracking will be Kakala, who plays for the Cal Stars and starts her week in Oregon before ending up in Nashville. Bullitt East guard Lindsey Duvall plays for Kentucky Premier in Lexington and then in Nashville.

Green is in Dallas along with '17 top target Michaela Onyenwere, who is former AAU teammates with current U of L freshman Kylee Shook. She's from Grandview, Colo., and is playing in Dallas early in the recruiting period.
