While some will arrive for Louisville's 'Light up the 'Ville' camp on Friday night already holding a scholarship offer from the Cardinals program, many more arrive with the anticipation of proving worthy of the same opportunity.
Alpharetta (Ga.) Johns Creek linebacker K.J. Simpson is drawing interest from a number of FBS programs and he hopes his time in the Derby City on Friday night results in a scholarship offer.
South Carolina, West Virginia, Texas, LSU, UAB, Kentucky and UCF are among the others expressing an interest in the three-star prospect. U of L and UK both invited him to their camps this weekend. Named as one of the top performers at the Atlanta MVP camp in March.
"I'm still waiting for my first offer," he said. "I got invited to both Louisville and Kentucky."
While still searching for his first offer, Simpson, 6'3, 225, is enjoying the recruiting process.
"I really like it a lot," he explained. "I like how the schools reach out to you and express an interest in you."
U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham serves as the primary recruiter for Simpson, who will be spending time with members of the coaching staff on Friday.
"Would really like to play for Louisville," he said.
