Fort Smith, Ark., cornerback Tre Norwood committed to the Cardinals on Friday morning

Louisville picked up its 17th commitment for the class of 2017 on Friday morning as Fort Smith, Ark., cornerback Tre Norwood announced for the Cardinals.

"I've always been a big fan of Bobby Petrino since when he was at Arkansas," he told Cardinal Authority moments after committing.

U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham's aggressive pro-style defense was also a factor.

"Coach Grantham and Coach Petrino are both great," he said.  "Petrino is a great offensive-minded coach and coach Grantham is a great defensive-minded coach.  I like how he plays a pro-style defense.  I liked the facilities and felt really comfortable there.  I loved it."

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect also held scholarship offers from Minnesota, Wake Forest, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State and others before committing to U of L.
