Louisville added commitment No. 18 to the 2017 recruiting class on Monday evening with the pledge of Miramar, Fla., cornerback Kaheem Roach.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Roach announced his commitment via the social media platform Twitter.
"It's actually my dream school," he told Cardinal Authority moments after making his decision. "I talk to coach from time to time and we have a really good connection and he made it feel like home."
Louisville became Roach's dream school when his cousin Gerod Holliman played for the Cardinals, establishing a new NCAA interception record during his time.
"He's an amazing talent," he said. "Last time we saw each we were talking about it and I told him I was looking into a lot."
Roach also held scholarship offers from Illinois, LSU, Auburn, UCF and Bowling Green prior to making his decision to commit to the Cardinals.
"I wanted to get it done before the season started," he explained. "That way I know where I'm going and that I have my plans made."
He's rated as the No. 14 cornerback prospect in the talent-rich Sunshine State and is among the top 100 at his position nationally.
Roach is close friends with another Louisville target, three-safety Brian Edwards, a current Miami commitment.
"We're really tight," he said. "We talk just about everyday."
Edwards is the third athlete from the state of Florida to commit to Louisville's 2017 recruiting class.
