Louisville lands a commitment from Class of 2017 point guard Darius Perry from Marietta, Ga,; the second commit in the '17 class for Cards

The University of Louisville basketball program has landed a second commitment in the Class of 2017. Marietta, Ga., Wheeler High School point guard Darius Perry has committed to the Cardinals.

Rick Pitino has his point guard for the future.

Marietta, Ga., Wheeler High School standout Darius Perry has committed to the Louisville Cardinals, giving Pitino two commitments in the Class of 2017. He landed a commitment from center Malik Williams two weeks ago.

The 6-foot-2 Perry became a prime target by the U of L staff in June and Pitino and his staff evaluated him in more than a dozen games during three evaluation periods in the summer.

U of L made Perry a priority with assistant coach Mike Balado as the point man in the recruitment.

Perry made an official visit with U of L two weeks ago and last weekend went on an official to Georgia. He also considered Texas A&M, Georgetown, Memphis, Iowa State and Georgia Tech.

Perry is ranked as the No. 80 player overall in the '17 class.
