Louisville football is in week two of fall camp; players talk about this being the 'grind' time because of mental toughness needed

The University of Louisville football team is 17 practices into fall camp. The Cardinals are in "grind time" and will scrimmage on Thursday night in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The opener is 15 days away.

The University of Louisville football team is through 17 practices in fall camp.

And the players are beginning to feel just how tough the fall camp is with tight end Keith Towbridge calling it a "grind." The Cardinals will have a scrimmage on Thursday night at 7 o'clock and then have Friday off.

"It’s week two," Towbridge said. "It’s a mental thing now -- your legs start to hurt and your brain starts to hurt.  You keep doing the same stuff over and over again. We have been hitting the same people now for two weeks. It’s just a mental thing right now and we have to fight through it."

The Cardinals open the season two weeks from Thursday against Charlotte.

"We are counting down the days to game day," tight end Cole Hikutini said. “It’s been a long camp, but we feel good with all the veterans we have on offense. We have a lot of play makers and good depth. Practices have been competitive and fun."
